Social activity is just as enjoyable as bowling, and the ladies are always up for a night out at a restaurant. This year we went for curry buffet at the Verandah https://verandahampthill.com/
We put in a great team effort to eat up the vast array of tasty dishes served.💪
Another fabulous social event, well attended at the clubhouse. Wine music and of course a fabulous 2 course meal prepared by our social committee. As well as bowling membership we offer a social membership which entitles members to come along and join in the many many social activities run at the clubhouse. Contact the club for membership enquiries.
Well done to our Ladies Senior Fours team, Patsy, Nicolette, Dianne and Jacky. They attended a fabulous County lunch event, where they were presented with the Runners up trophy for the second year in a row. Watch out 2025 - this teams a tough challenger!
On Saturday 26th October 2024 the club held its annual Presentation evening. Members were greeted with a glass of wine to toast the Award winners. Needless to say the wine kept flowing all evening alongside an array of fabulous hot food including chicken in white wine, paella, macaroni cheese, honey sausages, pizza, baked potatoes, salads, apple crumble, trifle, cheese and biscuits. At Ampthill Bowls Club, we love our food, drink and socialising as much as our bowling!

A great big thank you to Goff and all the great crowd of people who came down to help this morning. The green looks really great. A big thank you to Beryl and Lynn for the Bacon and Sausage sandwiches and tea. Well done to all
September 21/22nd will be well remembered this year, as it was the start of that very wet spell of weather, causing floods and chaos all over local roads and highways. Greenkeepers Goff, David & Martyn were inspecting the Green at 7 am to give updates to players with impending matches.
The rain stops and David tries to blow dry the Green
The Play begins. Fantastic turn out,
lots of finals matches being played.
Matches stop and start to align with the downpours !
However - Ampthill players are made of sturdy stuff and were undeterred. Fantastic finals albeit wet. Well done everyone involved.
After a full day of bowling, the post match food and beverages, a big feature of our club was very much welcome.
At Ampthill Bowls club we place a plaque on our clubhouse wall for life members who have passed away. President Ian unveiled such a plaque for Ray Outridge who passed away recently. Rays wife Hayley and daughters came down to the club for the unveiling.
Ray will be sadly missed, he did so much for the club and was a qualified national umpire. A friendly, lovely bloke who will be remembered.
To introduce and encourage younger people to the awesome game of Bowls, our club lay on a number of free sessions specifically for local youth groups. Below our local Scouts try out the game as well as our fabulous post game food in the clubhouse.

On Sunday 14th July, 16 members battled it out on an entertaining afternoon which saw new member Gary Blackbourn win the Vera Farr Trophy.
On a lovely summers day we emulated the Euros by having 4 groups who played a round robin from which the winners went into the knock out stages.

Sunday 9th June - This is a triples match. We had 12 members playing i.e 4 sets of triples. Members were drawn from seeded groups.
Some of our lady members, Jacky, Sandra, Collette and Carolyn dressed up as part of the D-Day celebrations and provided tea and cakes for visitors to the Kings Arm Gardens next door who were part of the Ampthill open gardens day. 200 + visitors came into our clubhouse to enjoy cake and watch the bowling.
The season is about to start, the greens are almost ready, the club has been refurbished and members are renewing their membership. The 13th April is a day to pop into the club and renew memberships as well as catch up with fellow members. The Green will be open for bowling and prospective new bowlers are welcome to pop in and have a go or just meet and chat with existing members. 2pm - 4pm - the bar will be open!
We had a great turnout from our members and lots of new people came along to have a go at bowling, find out about us and enjoy our hospitality. They were all made very welcome and many signed up on the day.
It was great to have Cllr Susan Clinch our Town Mayor join us for the afternoon.
