About the club

Our friendly club, with club house, bar and outdoor patio area, is set in attractive and tranquil surroundings, accessed through the acclaimed Kings Arms Path Gardens, off Brinsmade Road, Ampthill, Bedfordshire, MK45 2PP.

We have Mens and Ladies teams and welcome ladies and gents of all levels, from beginners who just want a friendly game to those who are a little more competitive and want to play in fixtures and competitions.

We currently have approx 38 members in our Men's Section and 20 in our Ladies and hope that more people will join us during the new season.

Roll Up... Roll up… Interested in playing bowls?

We are always looking for more members to join our club, people of all ages and abilities are welcome - from beginners (coaching available) to experienced players who are interested in playing in County and National competitions. Members enjoy regular games against other Clubs from Bedfordshire and beyond - all year round, as many members also bowl at indoor clubs over the winter months at Kempston Park Bowls Club and Bedford Borough Bowling Club.

Ampthill has 3 teams playing in various East Beds Leagues on Monday evenings, in the Beds County League on Wednesday, as well as local inter-club competitions and friendly matches (mostly) on Saturday afternoons with many other local Clubs (from Beds and Bucks).

We also have a number of non-playing 'social' members who attend our matches and functions.  Our popular Annual Prize Giving Dinner is held in October.

Our ‘Signing-on’ Day is usually the first Saturday in April, but you are welcome to drop in any time.

If you would like further information on how to join the club as a player or as a social member please do contact us by completing the Contact Form on the Contact Us page or email enquiries@ampthillbowlsclub.com.

We encourage members to look smart when playing but understand the constraints that the more traditional shirt and tie can have so we have  combined our more traditional ‘uniform’ with wearing a modern sport shirt in the Club’s colours for matches.  Some members prefer to wear the traditional club attire (specific information available on the 'Playing the Game' page) when arriving at the club however this is not compulsory.

Local support

The Club is very grateful for the financial support it has received from Ampthill Town Council and we play an annual evening match against Town Councillors and members of the Ampthill Business Chamber.

Ampthill Town Council Mayor, Councillor Ian Titman, is currently a member of the club, and we are also members of the Ampthill Business Chamber. We look forward to our annual ‘Challenge Match’ against Councillors and Chamber members which is normally held in June.

If you would like to help us, are interested in sponsoring the club, or would like more information about the Club, please contact the Club President Ivan Williamson by completing the Contact form on the Contact Us page or email enquiries@ampthillbowlsclub.com.
