Unbelievably we have come to the end of the season already and to polish off the year we had our Finals Day yesterday.  Thankfully the weather was kind and we managed to get through the day with mostly sun with a pinch of dark cloud thrown in and a good smattering of supporters.  Many thanks go to MIke Wade, the Mens Captain for organising the day, to Tom Tink for supplying the bacon rolls and our President Ivan Williamson for presenting the trophies.

PRESIDENTS UPDATE - JUNE 2022...

The year so far has been busy for the Captains, the green team and the social committee. And what a good job they have been doing. Thank you to them all.

The club is having some Great results in competitions and Nicolette Wade particularly is showing the way. Men’s teams are holding their own in County League and a win at Linslade in the Top club last week was just brilliant for the club, we all played well but Martyn Read had a very good game against a good opponent and they had what I can only describe as the tightest head I have ever seen with three of Martyn’s woods within an inch of the Jack.

A mention must be made about Nick Warner Smith and his excellent cheese and wine talk at the May Social event, I must congratulate and thank Nick for coming forward and making a very enjoyable evening.   Well done to the Social Committee for organising.

Coaching is under way and Myself and Martyn are available for coaching Thursday evenings through June 5:30 – 7:30pm.  Old and new members welcome.

We had a visit from Bowls England’s  Alan Lane, Clubs & Participation Officer during our Taster session on Sunday. He met a few people that had been in the club and made good use of the bar on his way down and even video’d their opinions of the day! It was a glowing report of the friendliness and how much they had enjoyed the afternoon. Hopefully going to be followed up with applications for memberships.

FIRST MATCH OF THE SEASON ...

Members are really looking forward to the first home match of the season against Olney Bowls Club on Saturday 23 April, 2pm start.  Prior to this, Ivan Williamson, our President, will 'unveil' our new Sponsor signage and say a few words of thanks for their allegiance to the club.  Thanks to Goff and his team the rinks are looking great, the whites are cleaned and pressed, we just need the sun to come out and it will be a perfect day.
